Unbeaten Tracks in Japan by Isabella L. Bird | Project Gutenberg

Touring Japan - with a focus on several of the central farming areas and Hokkaido - as a solo female traveller in the summer of 1878. Well-written, sympathetic (well, about as much as could be expected at the time) and overall an interesting overview of many aspects of Japanese society at the time.

The Man in Seat Sixty-One - the train travel guide...

The marketing gets a bit tiresome (I wouldn't choose to give money to Virgin Trains if my life depended on it), but the guides on how to travel to various countries by train are pretty interesting.

Doors Open Days 2014

This included various events in Dundee this year. (Which I found early in September, then completely forgot about. Maybe next year...)

Realtime Trains

Used to be less fancy. Now is considerably more fancy, with lots of detail on the "advanced" tab for individual trains.

Milton Keynes Museum

Should I ever make it to Bletchley Park, apparently this museum's telephony exhibits are also worth seeing...

The Man in Seat Sixty-One...

A guide to European (and British) rail travel. Pity about the hard sell, but lots of interesting information.
