Lots of PS2 homebrew tools; he's the current maintainer of FreeMcBoot, but there are various hardware drivers and a hard disk diagnostic here too.

"Open PS2 Loader (OPL) is an application designed to allow you to play your PS2 games from an Internal HDD, a connected USB device or a networked PC from either a PS2 console or a PS3 console that supports PS2 Backwards Compatibility." Sounds useful to save wear and tear on the DVD drive (although not very useful to me at present, since the only disc I have is the Linux boot disc!).

This appears to be the centre of PS2 homebrew development these days -- and the tools have improved quite a bit over the last few years. In particular, there's FreeMcBoot which you can just drop onto a memory card, or FreeHDBoot which you can dd to a hard disk (probably an easier option if you have a network adapter and a spare ATA disk -- so it's what I did). Discussion of other tools including the Linux kit and updated Linux ports here too.

A demo producing simultaneous output on a TV and oscilloscope showing the video signal. There's a pretty good explanation of how this (probably!) works in the comments: set the scope to sync on the composite sync pulses, and zoom in on (say) grey values 1-30, then you can draw 625 arbitrary lines on the scope while still having them nearly invisible on the composite monitor. Cute. He ought to do one that also displays shapes on a vectorscope next time!

PS2 homebrew bootloader -- wonder if this'd be usable to get PS2Linux up on a regular PS2? (The proper kits are getting harder to find...)
