The MGR Window System edit / delete

I remember playing with this briefly back when I first started using Linux -- it's a window system where all the operations are effectively terminal escape codes, so it works happily over existing telnet/ssh. I suspect watching video with it would be less practical!

Mosh: the mobile shell edit / delete

SSH replacement for poor-quality links. It works by effectively distributing screen's model: the client has a full terminal emulator inside it, and does intelligent synchronisation with the server. Downsides: custom crypto (argh!), needs UDP (double argh!), ludicrous complexity.
